Landlocked got its start as a songwriting exercise — I wanted to start with a lyric idea that was true and let it wander off into story land. What I ended up with here is definitely a summer song, definitely a beach song, and it’s probably also a song about going home.
But it develops into a wistful song about the one who got away. If you have someone like that in your past, then hopefully it will ring true for you. If, like me, you don’t have that person lingering in the back of your imagination after all these years, then lucky you. I hope you’ll enjoy the summer vibe, anyway.
